Audition to be in the band

The Capital Focus Jazz Band is an equal-opportunity program open to all Washington DC-area musicians under the age of 27 who play trumpet, clarinet, trombone, piano, banjo, guitar, tuba, or drums. Auditions for all chairs are held each fall, and are publicized via direct mailings to local high school and college band directors. In addition, openings can be filled by audition at any time of the year. Improvisation skills are a must. Prior experience with traditional jazz styles is not a requirement. Auditions are held in a rehearsal setting. Applicants come to a CFJB rehearsal, listen for awhile, then rehearse along with the band.
